Enjoy two Sunday matinees and a Saturday night with three of the world’s greatest orchestras. The Berliner Philharmoniker welcomes pianist extraordinaire Daniil Trifonov as soloist in Brahms’s passionate Piano Concerto No. 1, and Kirill Petrenko conducts the orchestra in Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra, widely recognized from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Vienna Philharmonic performs Gustav Mahler’s larger-than-life “Resurrection” Symphony under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, whose prior performance of this work at Carnegie Hall was called “amazement befitting a miracle” (The New York Times). Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in Shostakovich’s stunning Symphony No. 8 and Beethoven’s revolutionary, sole violin concerto, featuring virtuoso Maxim Vengerov.
