Carnegie Hall welcomes all visitors and strives to make its performances and facilities accessible to all patrons. Below, view accessibility maps of each concert hall as well as descriptions of the accessible services that we provide:

Braille Programs

Requests for braille programs must be made at least 10 business days before the concert date by calling the House Manager’s Office at 212-903-9605.

Lobby to Seat Service

Mobility or low vision

Starting one hour before performances begin, Carnegie Hall lobby attendants are available to assist patrons in getting from the lobby to their seats or wheelchair-seat locations. Mobility aids that cannot be stored safely within the patron’s seating area, or wheelchairs for those patrons who transfer to a theater seat, will be stored outside the concert hall as close as possible to the patron’s seat. At intermission, ushers make every effort to check in with patrons who may need assistance getting to restroom entrances or intermission bars. At the conclusion of the performance, ushers are available to assist patrons to the elevator banks or the lobby of the building.

Please note that lobby attendants are not available after performances. Staff, volunteers, doormen, and ushers are not able to assist patrons in transferring to or from a wheelchair, theater seat, or vehicle; operate motorized mobility aids such as scooters and Segways; or provide personal attendant services such as assisting patrons in the restroom, with taking medications, or with similar activities. Ushers are not permitted to accompany patrons outside of the building.

If you need extra time to enter the Hall, you may arrive up to one hour before the start of the concert. Upon arrival, ticket holders will be admitted and temporarily accommodated in an accessible area just outside of the auditorium. The auditorium will open 30 minutes prior to the concert, at which time ticket holders will be assisted to their seats.

Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

There are two elevators that service Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. They are located in the east and west corners of the lobby. The east elevator provides access to the Parquet, Blavatnik Family First Tier, Second Tier, and Dress Circle levels; the west elevator runs express to the Dress Circle. Please note that there is no elevator service to the Balcony and that elevator service to the Dress Circle is discontinued once the concert begins. Accessible locations on the Second Tier can be accessed by the west elevator (boxes 2–26) or the east elevator (boxes 38–62).

Zankel Hall

The elevator in Zankel Hall provides access to all levels of the concert hall.

Weill Recital Hall

The elevator in Weill Recital Hall provides access to the Orchestra level; there is no elevator service to the Balcony.

Accessible Seating

Mobility disability

All concert halls have wheelchair-accessible locations where patrons can remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to theater seats. Patrons who cannot or do not wish to transfer from their wheelchairs to a theater seat should request wheelchair-seat locations when ordering tickets.

Accessible Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are located on the Parquet level in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, the Mezzanine and Parterre levels in Zankel Hall, and the Jacobs Room in Weill Recital Hall.

Courtesy Wheelchairs

Mobility disability

Courtesy wheelchairs are available by reservation only. To reserve a courtesy wheelchair, call the House Managers Office at 212-903-9605 (open daily, 10 AM–9 PM). Wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis.

Assistive Listening Devices

Deaf or hearing loss disability

Complimentary radio frequency assistive listening devices (ALDs) are available in all three halls with the deposit of a valid ID.

Induction neckloops are available for patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a “T” switch (telecoil).

Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

For events in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, visit the coat-check room on the west side of the lobby.

Zankel Hall

For events in Zankel Hall, visit the Parterre level coat check.

Weill Recital Hall

For events in Weill Recital Hall, devices are available in the Jacobs Room.

Food and Drink

Before concerts and during intermissions, enjoy delectable nibbles and drinks from Constellation Culinary Group at the Cafe in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, the Parterre Bar in Zankel Hall, and the Jacobs Room in Weill Recital Hall. You are also welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Please note that food and beverages are permitted in concession areas within the Hall’s lobby spaces, but not inside its seating areas.
