World Cup Travel Advisory
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Carnegie Hall this summer.
Please note that New York City is one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup from June 11 through July 19. Though games are taking place in New Jersey, there are significant changes to traffic within Manhattan that might impact travel during the following times:
- Saturday, June 13 from 12 PM to 11 PM
- Tuesday, June 16 from 9 AM to 8 PM
- Monday, June 22 from 2 PM to 1 AM
- Thursday, June 25 from 10 AM to 9 PM
- Saturday, June 27 from 11 AM to 10 PM
- Tuesday, June 30 from 11 AM to 10 PM
- Sunday, July 5 from 10 AM to 9 PM
- Sunday, July 19 from 8 AM to 11 PM
On these days, New York City is making the following adjustments to reduce vehicular traffic. These changes will likely begin six hours before local matches start and remain in effect up to three hours after each match ends.
- 42nd Street from First Avenue to Twelfth Avenue will become a bus-only corridor that is completely closed off to other vehicles.
- The two eastern-most lanes on Sixth Avenue from 42nd Street to 59th Street will be reserved for buses only.
- West 40th and 41st streets between Eighth and Tenth avenues will be bus-only blocks.
Columbus Circle will also be a main hub for shuttle buses to New Jersey.
For this reason, public transit is recommended. Carnegie Hall is easily accessible by many of New York City’s subway lines. Additional information about public transit options is available on the Hall’s Directions and Parking page.
Visit the NYC DOT World Cup website for up-to-date information in case of any last-minute changes.
