Israel in Egypt, Handel’s oratorio about the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, takes on new resonance in this multimedia interpretation, adapted from LA Master Chorale’s production. This performance features soloists alongside young artists in a collaboration with the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts at Juilliard. Syrian-Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad weaves together live paintings with pre-composed film that brings additional perspective to the work’s themes of exile, displacement, and longing for home.
