Too Hot to Handel: An Introduction

Too Hot to Handel Introduction

Hundreds of New York City high school singers take center stage in Carnegie Hall's Too Hot to Handel Creative Learning Project.

The project, including a year of workshops, rehearsals, and performances, culminates in two concerts at Carnegie Hall. The first concert, on November 14, features the students, conductor Marin Alsop, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performing Too Hot to Handel, an exuberant re-invention of Handel's Messiah. The second concert, on November 21, features new compositions, arranged and performed by students, based on the theme of reinventing a masterpiece.

This project is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for talented high school students to experience the transformative power of music and the exhilaration of performance in one of the world's greatest halls.

Over the next seven weeks, starting on Monday, September 20, we will tell their story on video.
