Carnegie Hall Reopens Wednesday November 7

With the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy so far-reaching, we want first to extend our sympathy to the many Carnegie Hall audience members who have suffered under its impact. We hope that you and your family are safe as our region continues to recover from this terrible storm.

As many of you are probably aware, the streets around Carnegie Hall were closed to the public by New York City authorities after Hurricane Sandy due to safety concerns related to a nearby construction crane that was badly damaged during the storm. We’re pleased to report that the crane has now been completely secured, streets in our neighborhood are open, and Carnegie Hall will reopen to the public as of tomorrow, Wednesday, November 7. We are delighted that great music will finally be heard once again on our stages as we warmly welcome back Carnegie Hall audiences.

Please note that a number of performances originally scheduled for Sunday evening, October 28 through Tuesday, November 6 were either cancelled or rescheduled for future dates. We encourage all patrons who held tickets during this period to check for information on concerts during this period, available 24 hours a day, or to call CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800 from 8AM-8PM daily with any questions. Carnegie Hall’s box office is also now open.

On behalf of everyone at Carnegie Hall, I would like to sincerely thank the members of the public, our artists and fellow presenters as well as the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and other City agencies and our colleagues from throughout the New York City arts community for their great show of support in the days following the storm.

We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced over the last week. We greatly value your patronage and hope to see you soon this season at Carnegie Hall.

With all best wishes,

Clive Gillinson
Executive and Artistic Director
