Sixty years ago, Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Robbins, Arthur Laurents, and Stephen Sondheim challenged millions of people to imagine a better world through the art and music of West Side Story. Today, we're bringing that same challenge to you!
Carnegie Hall and Soundfly have teamed up with award-winning conductor Marin Alsop of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to challenge you to create an original piece of music inspired by the song "Somewhere" from West Side Story. It could be a cover of the work itself or an original song that captures the spirit of the song—imagining a better world for us.
Share your recording on social media with #SomewhereProject and we will add it to the gallery below! If you're looking for inspiration, sign up for the full West Side Story Companion Course to hear Marin Alsop and others talk about the original work.
