Bach’s Orchestral Suite featuring flute and “Double” Concerto for violins bring out the spiritual dimensions in his works of secular entertainment. Felix Mendelssohn applies Bach’s lessons of interwoven lines in his early and rarely heard Violin Concerto in D Minor, performed by Korean violinist Bomsori Kim in her debut with the self-led Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and Adolphus Hailstork’s "Sonata da Chiesa" pays tribute to sacred traditions while incorporating contemporary musical language.
