For the occasion of her 60th birthday, composer Augusta Read Thomas’ new concerto for saxophone will be performed by the Avery Fisher Career Grant winner Steven Banks. Bookending this work is Bach’s exquisite Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous Serenade for Strings.
