As an avid chamber musician and soloist, violist Andrew Gonzalez has collaborated with world-class musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Gil Shaham, Daniel Phillips, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Nobuko Imai, Amit Peled, and many others. Andrew performs regularly at Bargemusic in Brooklyn, including a solo recital last July. He also frequently appears with Sejong Soloists. In the spring of 2013, Andrew was soloist in the Juilliard Orchestra’s performance of Don Quixote under the direction of Leonard Slatkin. He has participated in numerous summer programs, including the Verbier Festival Academy, Music@Menlo, Perlman Music Program, and Heifetz International Music Institute. Andrew completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The Juilliard School under the direction of violists Heidi Castleman, Michael Tree, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Steven Tenenbom. Andrew also serves as a teaching assistant to Heidi Castleman. As part of his fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Andrew teaches at PS 226 Alfred De B. Mason in Brooklyn.
