Cellist Julia Yang is a multifaceted performer who hails from Tallahassee, Florida. From 2014–2016, she resided in Miami Beach, where she was a member of the New World Symphony and actively performed as a solo and chamber musician. In 2016, she appeared with the Zaffre String Quartet at Yellow Barn, Banff Chamber Residency, Port Townsend Chamber Music Workshop, and Four Seasons Winter Workshop. Abroad, she recorded in the UK as a member of the 2015 Aldeburgh Strings, and in 2016, the Krzyżowa-Music chamber music workshop broadcast her opening performance on Polish television. Julia has won numerous competitions, including the 2014 New World Symphony Concerto Competition, where she subsequently performed with the orchestra for sold-out concerts during its innovative WALLCAST concert series.

Julia has performed as principal cellist under conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Susanna Mälkki, James Gaffigan, John Adams, James Conlon, Hugh Wolff, Leonard Slatkin, and Nicholas McGegan in distinguished concert halls that include Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Symphony Hall (Boston). As part of her fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Julia teaches at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn.
