Pianist Lee Dionne is a promising young artist who engages deeply with a wide range of repertoire. As a doctoral student at the Yale School of Music, he has taught theory and chamber music to undergraduates, and he advocates connecting performance to musical understanding at all levels.

Lee has performed as a soloist in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava, in addition to concertos with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in the UK, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Turkey, Yale Symphony Orchestra, and Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York. He is a core member of acclaimed vocal and instrumental chamber ensemble Cantata Profana and a founding member of Merz Trio, an ensemble whose programs celebrate wide-ranging multidisciplinary connections between music and other art forms brought together with a strong thematic focus.

Lee has received numerous fellowships and prizes, including a DAAD scholarship for study abroad in Germany, a Presser Foundation Music Award, and third prize in the 2012 James Mottram International Piano Competition. He is currently a candidate for both a doctorate of musical arts in piano performance at the Yale School of Music and a soloist diploma in piano performance from the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. Lee’s teachers and mentors include Boris Berman, Wei-Yi Yang, Matti Raekallio, Patricia Zander, Arthur Haas, Michael Friedmann, Paul Berry, and Wilma Machover.

As part of his fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Lee teaches at PS 107 in the Bronx.
