Acclaimed bassoonist Rémy Taghavi is a highly active performer and educator in the New York City area with interests that span classical, jazz, and popular music. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, he has performed, toured, and recorded with numerous groups across the country, including the American Youth Symphony, New York Symphonic Ensemble, Contemporaneous, and ensemble mise-en.

Rémy has been an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and a substitute member of Symphony in C. He spent summers at festivals in the US, Canada, and Japan, and recently co-founded the Annapolis Chamber Music Festival. Alongside his private studio of bassoon students, Rémy serves on the faculty of the Evening Division at The Juilliard School. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California, received a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and is a doctoral candidate at Stony Brook University. His primary teachers include Frank Morelli, Judith Farmer, and Norbert Nielubowski. As part of his fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Rémy teaches at PS 63 Old South in Queens.
