Coco Mi
Celebrated for her musical vitality and sensitivity, violinist Coco Mi (she/they) values human connection and collaboration through music. Her awards include first prize at the 2025 Washington International Competition and second prize at the 2024 Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards; she also won the 2023 Juilliard Concerto Competition.
Chamber music is at the core of Coco’s musical life. She has been invited to participate in music festivals such as Kneisel Hall, the Olympic Music Festival, Perlman Music Program, and Yellow Barn, was part of the Honors Chamber Music Program at Juilliard, worked with Molly Carr’s Project: Music Heals Us, and has had the privilege to learn and collaborate with esteemed artists such as Misha Amory, Krzysztof Chorzelski, Julio Elizalde, Joel Krosnick, Merry Peckham, and Areta Zhulla.
Coco grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, and started playing violin at the age of five. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. She is continuing her studies at Juilliard as part of the Artist Diploma Program under the guidance of Laurie Smukler, Donald Weilerstein, and Mark Steinberg. Coco performs on a violin by Carlo Bergonzi ca. 1723 on generous loan from The Juilliard School. In their free time, Coco enjoys spending time with loved ones, eating and cooking delicious food, curating cocktails and concerts at lyrical libations, and spending time with their cat Oreo.
As part of their fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Coco teaches at Frank Sinatra High School in Queens.
