Will Sands

French Horn

Will Sands is a rising artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began studying French horn at the age of eight and quickly developed a love for the instrument. In high school, he studied with Robert Lauver. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Peter Kurau, Maura McCune Corvington, and Jacek Muzyk, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Rochester.

Will continued his musical education at the Yale School of Music under the guidance of William Purvis, earning both a Master of Music and a Master of Musical Arts degree. His love of chamber music has led him to organize and perform with A Yale Horn Quartet—winner of first prize in the collegiate horn quartet division at the 2025 International Horn Symposium—as well as with the quintet Amo Brass.

A dedicated orchestral musician, Will has performed with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Creare Symphonia, Syracuse Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Outside of music, he works as a software engineer for the startup WVN.

As part of his fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Will teaches at Robert F. Wagner Middle School 167 in Manhattan.
