Noémi Sallai, Clarinet

Hungarian clarinetist Noémi Sallai is a devoted chamber musician. She has spent her summers at the Crescendo Summer Institute, Sarasota Music Festival, and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, where she collaborated with such renowned artists as Charles Neidich, Frank Morelli, and Peter Frankl. As a passionate interpreter of solo repertoire written for the clarinet, she premiered works in the US through The Juilliard School’s Focus! festival and has received first prize at several national and international clarinet competitions. As the winner of the 2018 PRISMA Concerto Competition in Canada, Noémi had the opportunity to perform with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in Russia. She was featured as soloist at Charlotte White’s Salon de Virtuosi and received first prize at the 2018 International Internet Music Competition IMKA. An enthusiast of orchestral music, she toured with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, conducted by Iván Fischer, to Edinburgh, Budapest, and New York.

Noémi has a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, where she was a recipient of the Irene Diamond and R. and H. Gold Woodwind Award. She completed two bachelor’s degrees at Bard College, where she also was a recipient of the László Z. Bitó Scholarship. Her principal teachers include Jon Manasse, David Krakauer, Anthony McGill, and Laura Flax. As part of her fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Noémi teaches at PS 234Q The School of Performing Arts and Technology in Queens.
